IN the past few weeks I've struggled more just with the general urge to binge/purge than with the fact that I'm not eating animal products, and more than a few times, I've thought that it might be easier in a weird way to just add some animal products back in there, but I really do feel so much better, and I like not eating meat or dairy.

"Now, I'm concentrating on getting there slowly, and just eating as healthy as possible - not for the weight loss, but because it's better for me, both physically and mentally.

:) I'm trying to focus on that as well, and if any weight loss comes about as a result, then it's secondary. I tell myself that, but it's a hard mindset to erase completely.Babshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09700956553646271607noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4200414876884335472.post-60274297407328890252009-06-27T10:06:51.673-07:002009-06-27T10:06:51.673-07:00I flirted briefly with a proper ED in high school,...I flirted briefly with a proper ED in high school, but I have major food issues. Surprisingly, starting WW has spurred me on to combat this in a healthy way, and I am feeling better now about my relationship to food than ever before. But yes, attempting a 100% vegan diet can and has lead to massive self-loathing on my part in the past, and it's part of the reason I gave up and allowed myself small amounts of dairy over the last six months. Not an excuse, more self-preservation. It was getting to where I wanted to chuck the WHOLE healthy eating plan out if I couldn't get the vegan part right, and that didn't seem very smart. Now, I'm concentrating on getting there slowly, and just eating as healthy as possible - not for the weight loss, but because it's better for me, both physically and mentally.Cassienoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4200414876884335472.post-5611933356383738522009-06-11T14:05:19.917-07:002009-06-11T14:05:19.917-07:00It's funny how our bodies will do that natural...It's funny how our bodies will do that naturally once we eliminate the bad eating-habits. Also, once I cut out refined sugars, I started noticing the natural sweetness in fruits and some vegetables.

Then when I'd have something with table sugar in it, it was overwhelmingly sweet, almost to the point of sickening.Babshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09700956553646271607noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4200414876884335472.post-26413471961091419852009-06-11T13:37:29.500-07:002009-06-11T13:37:29.500-07:00Oh me too! I already feel so much better. I was having headaches almost daily for 6 months before. They stopped very quickly. Granted, I have gradually cut things out over the 6 months, it's not like I was a big meat-eater and then *BAM* no meat.

I did notice on my very first day, detox headache and feeling very sluggish, but it went away pretty quickly.

I am feeding my kids vegan food here. They already love the soy milk. Giving up the cheese will be the hardest thing, but they will probably always have access to it at their dad's house.

Being on Atkins might increase your taste for veggies. I was a vegan a long time ago and that gave me my first taste for fruits and vegetables. Before then I was strictly and carb & cheese girl.Babshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09700956553646271607noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4200414876884335472.post-42795329396392006922009-06-11T05:42:04.728-07:002009-06-11T05:42:04.728-07:00I really want to eventually be a vegan. I don'...I really want to eventually be a vegan. I don't know that I can do it because I am not a fan of a lot of veggies and fruits, but I REALLY want to.

I had a teacher when I went to the holistic nursing school and she was a vegan, grew most of her own food even. She was stunningly beautiful and young looking.

Do you think you'll go towards being holistic, or is this only a food thing for you? Do you feel marginally better? You'll have to let me know if you still get sick. It seems this diet really holds off colds and flu from what I have heard.

Are your kids eating like this with you?Shannon Loses Teh Chubbehhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06901085632420610268noreply@blogger.com
